Copy Trading on Polymarket: Outsource Alpha to Proven Wallets
Polymarket has a property most trading venues don't: it's fully on-chain. Every position, every fill, every wallet's running P&L is public on Polygon. That means the wallets that are consistently profitable aren't a secret — you can find them, and you can mirror them.
That's the entire premise of Polymarket copy trading: instead of researching markets yourself, you track wallets that have already proven they have an edge, and you copy their BUY/SELL actions automatically with your own sizing.
Why copy trading works especially well here
On a centralized exchange, copy trading depends on someone opting in to publish their trades, usually with a delay and a marketing incentive to look better than they are. On Polymarket, the data is the chain. There's no opt-in, no survivorship-biased leaderboard, no spin — you can audit a wallet's real history before you decide to follow it.
That makes wallet selection a genuine, verifiable edge: you're choosing demonstrated performance, not a curated highlight reel.
How a copy-trading bot works
- Track one or more target wallets. You pick the wallets to mirror based on their on-chain track record.
- Detect their actions in near-real time. The bot watches for the target's BUY/SELL activity as it lands.
- Mirror with your own sizing. Instead of copying their dollar amounts, you copy their decisions at a configurable percentage — e.g. 10% of every position they take — so the strategy scales to your bankroll.
- Apply your own risk limits. A circuit breaker and depth checks sit between the signal and your order, so a target's bad day or a thin market doesn't wreck you.
Zero research, zero chart-watching, zero second-guessing. The bot copies; you compound.
The things that actually matter
- Wallet selection is everything. Copy a wallet that got lucky and you inherit variance, not edge. Audit the on-chain history — consistency over time beats one big score.
- Speed of mirroring. The later you copy, the worse your entry price versus the wallet you're following. Near-real-time detection keeps your fills close to theirs.
- Sizing as a percentage, not a copy. Mirroring raw dollar amounts blows up small accounts and underweights large ones. Copy the decision at your size.
- Multi-wallet diversification. Following several proven wallets smooths the variance of any single one having a bad week.
Getting started
Copy trading is one of ten strategies in the open-source Prediction Market Toolkits — multi-wallet tracking, configurable copy percentage, FAK/GTD order types, and the shared circuit-breaker + depth-guard risk layer. The Polymarket adapter repo has the venue-specific setup. Start in dry-run with enable_trading: false, confirm the bot is mirroring the wallets you intend, then go live at a small copy percentage until you trust the signal.
For a faster, lower-level edge on the same chain, see on-chain whale signals — reading Polygon block data 3–30 seconds ahead of the public positions API.
Disclaimer
Trading prediction markets involves real financial risk. Copying a wallet copies its losses as well as its wins, and past on-chain performance does not guarantee future results. Nothing here is financial advice. Software is provided as-is without warranty. Always test in dry-run, keep copy percentage low until proven, and comply with each venue's terms and your local regulations.
